On 13 September, the Singapore National Co-operative Federation welcomed a 34-member delegation from the National Capital Region League of the Philippine Federation of Credit Cooperatives (NCRL-PFCCO). Led by Mr Roderico Dimaano, Vice Chairperson of the NCRL-PFCCO Education Committee, the delegation which was comprised representatives from seven credit co-operatives in Metro Manila and NCRL-PFCCO was on a study tour to Singapore and Malaysia.
The objective of their visit was to learn about the history and development of credit co-operatives in Singapore, appreciate their best practices and learn from their challenges. In addition, they also hope to know and understand Singapore culture.
As 13 September was the 15th day of the eighth lunar month i.e. the Mid-Autumn Festival, SNCF prepared mooncakes for the delegates to enjoy in addition to other refreshments.
The delegation was briefed on the co-operative landscape in Singapore and in particular, the credit co-operatives, and were given a deeper insight into the relevance and impact of the Co-operative Movement on communities in Singapore. This was followed by a lively discussion. The two-hour session was an immensely satisfying one for the delegates.
