What is your idea of
‘A Better Society’?

Is it a society where everyone gets access to food, people have equal chances in life or buildings are created to conserve the environment?

These are some goals that the United Nations envisioned, where cities and people pledge to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

With the theme, ‘A Better Society’, submit a photo that shows how it relates to a better society involving at least one of the SDGs along with a caption of not more than 30 words. Winners stand to walk away with attractive cash prizes of up to S$1,000

Edwin Koo

Documentary Photographer

Edwin is a Singaporean independent documentary photographer. His long-term projects examine the themes of human displacement and homelands, spanning topics such as the Tibetans, Nepal’s Maoist guerrillas, and Pakistan’s Swat Valley. He was awarded Third Place in UNICEF Photo of the Year 2009 and Getty Images Grant for Editorial Photography in 2010. In 2012, he was awarded the ICON de Martell Cordon Bleu award. His first photographic monograph “Paradise” was a finalist in the Picture of the Year books category, and his works have been published in the New York Times, GEO and The Financial Times.

Santo Thie

Founder of InstaSG & Creative Director

Santo is an accidental photographer. He is actually leading a creative marketing agency that provides consultancy and content development services to marketing teams of top brands and organizations. As part of his jobs, he is the creative director on location, working with photographers and videographers. This is why he often needs to pick up the camera in his spare time to exercise the creative ideas. Besides being a professional in creative industry, he is the founder of InstaSG - a community of Singapore instagrammers - as again, just another reason to hold the camera.
