SNCF New Executive Council Slate Refreshes with 5 New Members; MP Melvin Yong Among New Faces

Five members from the previous Executive Council step down as SNCF welcomes new representatives for its next three-year term.

The Singapore National Co-operative Federation (SNCF) has refreshed its Executive Council following its 16th Triennial General Assembly (TGA), with five members stepping down and several new faces joining the Federation’s leadership.

Among the new members is Radin Mas MP Melvin Yong, who has been elected SNCF’s First Deputy Chairperson. He succeeds Thian Ai Ling in the role, while Tng Ah Yiam continues as Chairperson and Shareef Bin Abdul Jaffar remains Second Deputy Chairperson.

Yong also brings prior experience in the co-operative sector, having served as Vice-Chairman of POLWEL Co-operative Society Limited. He is also the President of the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE).

The new EXCO members will serve a three-year term from September 2026 to September 2029.

Five members from the previous slate will conclude their service on the Council: Mavis Ren of The Singapore Teachers’ Co-operative, Dr Leong Choon Kit of GP+ Co-operative, Fenny Halim of NTUC FairPrice Co-operative, John Raghavan of Singapore Government Staff Credit Co-operative and independent member Wily Wan.

Joining the Council are Dr Lee Yik Voo from GP+ Co-operative, Leslie Liang from NTUC Enterprise and Noorul Hassan Bin Shareef from Singapore Government Staff Credit Co-operative, alongside Yong.

Thian, who represented NTUC First Campus Co-operative on the previous Council, will continue serving on the Executive Council as an independent member.

Several members of the previous Council will also continue their service, including Sanjeev Tiwari of AUPE Credit Co-operative, Bryan Tan of NTUC Enterprise Nexus Co-operative, Evelyn Siow of SeaCare Co-operative, Mike Chiang of Love Empowered Co-operative and independent member Raen Lim.
