The credit co-operative celebrated a century of supporting officers, their families and the wider Home Team community.
The Singapore Police Co-operative Society (SPCS) marked its centenary with a gala dinner on August 21, 2026, celebrating a century of supporting police officers and their families while looking ahead to its next chapter.
Held at Fairmont Singapore, the dinner brought together more than 500 guests, including former SPCS directors and presidents, leaders from Ministry of Home Affairs agencies, and representatives from the Singapore National Co-operative Federation.
Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs, and Social and Family Development Goh Pei Ming, who attended the celebration, noted that SPCS had grown from just 85 members when it was established in 1926 to about 11,000 members today across the Police Force and other eligible Home Team and law enforcement agencies.
Founded as the Singapore Police Co-operative Thrift and Loan Society, SPCS was Singapore’s first co-operative for uniformed personnel in government service. Over the decades, it expanded its support beyond savings and financial schemes. In 1953, it established a scholarship fund for the children of members killed in action during the Malayan Emergency or who had been incapacitated.
Its SPCS Consultancy arm, established in 2006, also provides employment opportunities for retired officers. Today, it employs more than 140 former officers in the security and related sectors.
To mark its 100th anniversary, SPCS members will receive a 2.25 per cent dividend and an additional 0.5 per cent special dividend. The co-operative also made a charitable contribution to the Singapore Heart Foundation during the evening.
As SPCS enters its second century, Goh said it would need to continue evolving while maintaining sound governance, prudent stewardship and strong safeguards to remain relevant to future generations of members.
